I cannot remember a sweeter wedding day! I met Grayson almost a year ago at a coffee consultation, and Holt came along with her. The groom being invested from the earliest stages of wedding planning is an immediate (and rare!) green flag in my book. Through the whole process, it has been apparent that these two are best friends and absolutely head-over-heels for each other. Their engagement session was a breeze (being this photogenic never hurts). The wedding day was full of the sweetest moments, and their family and friends were so much fun! Their wedding at New Water Farms in Lake Martin, AL was one of my favorite of the year!
Grayson and her girls got ready in the “Chapel House” at New Water. This new addition is located near the open air ceremony Chapel, which is so convenient for touching up makeup and resting before the ceremony takes place. A color palette of white and pink with gold accents tied the beautiful florals, bridesmaid’s dresses, and other details together throughout the day. While the girls were finishing up hair and makeup, the boys watched some football and played around on the boat!
After her mom helped her into her dress, Grayson shared a sweet first look with her dad. Then we walked down to the water where she and Holt exchanged “blind” private vows, and a quick hug, while saving his first look at her dress for a ceremony reveal. Then their coordinator, Katy, helped us stay on time as we did a few quick family portraits before the girls went in to freshen up before the ceremony.
A Wedding Ceremony Overlooking Lake Martin
The ceremony took place in the venue’s open air chapel with a beautiful view of Lake Martin behind the couple. A boutonniere in honor of Holt’s late father was placed in the front row while the couple exchanged their vows surrounded by family and friends. It was a windy day, so Grayson was worried that the unity candle wouldn’t light. They worked together to make it happen and “fist bumped” to celebrate. (I told you they’re precious!) Before the ceremony, Holt explained to me exactly how he planned to dip-kiss Grayson when they walked back up the aisle and they executed it perfectly! Grayson is a dancer and dance instructor, so she’s obviously taught him well!
After the ceremony, we finished up their portraits while the sun was setting over the water. Nova, their dog, joined in for a few before we headed up to the reception.
New Water Farms Reception
New Water Farms has a spacious main building that is perfect for hosting a large reception. There are outdoor spaces for playing yard games and watching the sun go down and plenty of room inside for tables and a dance floor. Grayson and Holt shared their first dance, followed by special dances with their parents. The funny surprise remix Grayson did with her dad was a huge hit! After dinner, we finished out the night by cutting the (red velvet!) cake and opening up the dance floor. It was such a fun celebration at the end of a perfect day!
