What did your grandmother wear at her wedding?
Above our dining room table there are black and white photos of couples in love. One is a wedding portrait. People often ask me if I know the people in those photos or if they're just displayed because they're beautiful images. Do I know them? Yes and no. On the one hand, I know those people well, but on the other hand, I've never known those people.
I knew them when years of joy had creased the corners of their eyes. When hard work had built up calluses on strong fingers. Years after the moments recorded in those images had passed, I knew those people as the people who shucked corn with me on their porches, served me waffles and ice cream for breakfast, and put bandaids on my skinned knees.
I am from sweet tea and cornbread. From Toomers Lemonade and "War Eagle!" From meatballs and marinara sauce. From loud conversations and lots of laughter. From faces that I still celebrate with at holidays, and from some that have passed on.
You have a story like that, and your children will, too. Let me help you tell your story.
Creating is part of my DNA. I come from grandmothers who painted, quilted, beaded, and crocheted. While I don't have all of their gifts, I do love to create. Crochet, baking, and photography are my primary outlets, but I also love to write and I try to paint sometimes. I love noticing the beautiful in the ordinary - how the light streams through the kitchen window onto my children playing a board game or the way the sun sets over the pasture down the road from our house.
Combine that with a love for people and knowing their stories, celebrating their victories, and documenting their growing families, and you have portrait photography. Your family photos may never wind up in a history book or a museum, but they will be more valuable to you than any Smithsonian display. Because I love you, I want to give you the gift of those memories.
I've always loved creating, and I've always loved people.

He was one to buy me my first "real" camera, and he is my biggest source of encouragement and support. Because our marriage is such a precious gift, I am inspired and excited to document others' love stories.

I thrive in sunshine and warm weather. I love exploring new places and spending time outsides with my children, or just sitting in a hammock reading while they play at the park down the road from our house.

I'm going to be honest. I'll probably show up to your session or wedding wearing an ankle brace. At this point it's just a precaution, but I think it's awesome when my brides choose comfy shoes for their wedding day because I personally can't do heels, haha!

I love to make cakes and cupcakes, but my specialty is chocolate chip cookies! My husband is usually the one to wash the dishes though. I told you he's great.

...and my kids are, too. We love the Marvel movies, Narnia, Harry Potter, etc. I'm a people person and not very competitive, so of course I'm in Hufflepuff.
