Every wedding I am honored to photograph is special. It is a joy to get to know my couples’ families and be a small part of such a huge moment in their lives. A wedding day that doesn’t get me a little misty-eyed is rare. I especially love witnessing high school sweethearts exchange vows (after all, I married mine!). But Harleigh and Trent’s wedding in Alex City was extra special because I was able to watch them grow up together! We attended the same church when their relationship was new, and “Miss Harleigh” taught my kids and chaperoned them at summer camp. I could not have been more excited to celebrate with them, and I am so excited to share some images from their day! Be sure to leave your best wishes to the bride and groom in the comments!
The Cotney’s venue, Azalea Cove Waterside, features large spaces upstairs for both the bride and groom to get ready. The light in those spaces was a dream! (Honestly, the light in the whole venue was beautiful!) Between their gorgeous details, beautiful florals, and the dreamy lighting, the day started out on a high note. After Harleigh took a few pj photos with her girls, her mom helped her into her dress. Harleigh shared a sweet first look with her bridesmaids, dad, and groom before we finished up bridal party portraits and family photos by the waterside.
As Harleigh’s dad walked her down the aisle, the Cotneys were surrounded by so many friends and family that the ceremony quickly became standing-room-only! Trent and Harleigh exchanged their vows (with a few “Hitch”-inspired lines) as the sun was starting to set. After exchanging their rings, the couple took communion together before sharing their first kiss as husband and wife.
Before Harleigh and Trent had a private taco dinner, we took a few more portraits down by the water. Most of the day had been overcast, but the most beautiful sunsets happen when there are some clouds in the sky! After dinner, the reception began with special dances and toasts. Harleigh’s sister Lily gave one of the best toasts I have heard in a long time. I’m not sure there was a dry eye anywhere! Harleigh and Trent’s day was one full of laughter, happy tears, and lots of love for a truly precious couple!
