The Gibsons | Dadeville Alabama Wedding

filed in

Jennie and Michael exchanged their vows at the Mitchell House in Dadeville, Alabama on this perfect autumn wedding day. October is always a popular month to get married, and the Gibsons’ day was the perfect demonstration of why – bright, clear, and beautiful! With a beautiful historic home as the backdrop and a stunning 100 year old Ginkgo tree casting cool shade over the lawn, portraits were a breeze!

Details and Getting Ready

The Mitchell House is the perfect location for a bride who wants to keep her wedding day timeline simple by getting ready, hosting the ceremony, and dancing the night away at her reception without having to travel between venues. Jennie got ready with her girls in the upstairs bridal suite with cheerful fall sunlight streaming through the windows. The blue walls were the perfect compliment to her day, which included accents of dusty blue. Another blue detail, the print on the blue-patterned oyster in the images below, came from china that belonged to Jennie’s late grandmother and namesake. What a perfect way to weave family history in with the new chapter the Gibsons started on Saturday! After Jennie’s sister and mother helped her get into her dress, she shared a sweet first look with her dad outside on the lawn.

A Dadeville Alabama Wedding Ceremony Under the Cross

Jennie and Michael exchanged their vows under a wooden cross built by her father. A long-time friend officiated the ceremony, which was rich with the couple’s faith in Christ. After lighting their unity candle, Jennie and Michael exchanged personal vows and rings. When they shared their first kiss as husband and wife, Michael immediately followed it by kissing Jennie on the cheek, which was the most precious thing I have ever seen! The way he so obviously adores her kept me smiling all day!

Portraits

Jennie and Michael chose to save their first look for the ceremony, so all of their portraits together were done during cocktail hour. One thing Jennie wanted to include was some portraits of them on the balcony of this gorgeous home! And how often do you get to sit on a swing in a wedding dress?! Of course we took advantage of both of those locations for portraits of the newlyweds!

The gorgeous wild-flower inspired floral arrangements were based on one of Jennie’s favorite quotes: in a field of roses, she was a wildflower. She says that quote reminds her to “be authentically myself, and it’s beautiful to be different.” I absolutely loved that her floral arrangements carried such a significant meaning for her. Those are the kinds of details that always stand out.

The Reception

After the portraits were finished, it was time to celebrate! The Mitchell House has an enclosed pavilion that is perfect for guests to enjoy an indoor reception. It was a beautiful place for Jennie and Michael’s family and friends to celebrate and dance! One of my favorite reception details was their guestbook. The guests snapped some pictures of each other with a polaroid camera and inserted their photos along with their well-wishes. After the newlywed’s first dance, they shared dances with their parents, cut their beautiful classic white cake, and ran through a tunnel of sparklers!
